Report: Blues set to hand potential new boss major boost when it comes to the transfer market

|

I’m not quite sure if this falls under an ‘I’ll believe it when I see it’ situation, but it certainly comes very close.

Because given the owner’s history when it comes to spending, I’m going to reserve judgement on the matter until I can actually see some proof of it coming to fruition. According to a report in The Mirror, the board are set to try and tempt potential new boss Aitor Karanka by giving him a large transfer budget to work with.

With the sale of Jude Bellingham bringing the club a minimum of £25m with more potentially coming through add-ons, it looks as if Blues might get some more manoeuvrability in the transfer window than we have in previous seasons.

I have said before that the potential appointment of Karanka does come with the caveat that he tends to spend money in order to get success. The season that Middlesbrough went up under his leadership for instance, they spent in excess of £30m. And when he was with Nottingham Forest, they spent roughly £25m in the process.

How much will Blues spend in this window?

More than £15m

£15m or less

So if the club are going to take a step forward under him, rather than languishing near the bottom of the table again, he would need to be backed, and by the sounds of it they are going to give him some cash to spend in the market, which let’s be honest is something that we desperately need to get out of the rut we’ve been in and especially given the state of the squad ahead of next season.

What about you? What do you make of this news?
