Championship Rival In ‘Advanced Negotiations’ For £8m Rated Birmingham Target

|

Derby County look to be in pole position to sign Ipswich striker Martyn Waghorn with the Daily Mail reporting they are in “advanced negotiations” for the former Rangers star.

The Rams are said to be lining up an £8m offer. Such a sizeable figure isn’t a surprise as Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder confirmed last week that the Blades just couldn’t afford the 28-year-old with the Suffolk side setting an asking price between £8m and £10m.

Our own interest in Waghorn was tentative at best. TWTD had reported we were looking at the forward a few weeks ago, but that was before we were hit with a reported transfer embargo.

The club’s major concern will be on negotiating with the EFL in order to have the ban on transfers lifted before the end of the window. The Mirror‘s James Nursey is reporting we are deep in discussion with league officials, but there has been no breakthrough in talks yet.
