Just one big money signing this window, that’s all I ask for.
I wrote when we were first linked with Aitor Karanka that he tends to do well when he is allowed to spend big money, but at the moment that’s yet to be the case, with the club only forking out for West Brom’s Jonathan Leko so far.
There is some potential that the club are going to spend some money on another goalkeeper to supplement the newly arrived Andres Prieto, but even if that is the case, they aren’t going to be going overboard by the sound of it.
Responding to a series of questions on Twitter, journalist Alan Nixon spoke about their supposed hunt for Charlton Athletic goalkeeper Dillon Philips as well as Cardiff City’s Neil Etheridge and he revealed that the club won’t exactly be splashing the cash to bring him to St Andrew’s.
Whats the asking price?

Birmingham in for him at that price?

Etheridge? 🙏

Yes. But that won’t be much cheaper. https://t.co/H7qia7YCyI

Perhaps the club are scrimping and saving so that we can spend whatever money we have left on that big-ticket player, similar to last summer with Ivan Sunjic, with the Jude Bellingham sale netting us £25m there should hopefully be plenty to go around.
But with just a few days to go until the start of the season, time’s running out if they’re going to be in before the first kick-off.
