It is being reported that Blues are on the verge of signing Middlesbrough right back Emilio Nsue for a fee of around £1m.

With the news breaking that Jonathan Spector could be on his way out of St Andrews, a deal to bring in another full back would be required.

Nsue can either play at right back or right wing so he would provide Blues with some versatility and, if Blues can get the deal over the line, then I think he’d be an excellent signing.

Last season, he was an integral part of the Middlesbrough side that gained automatic promotion to the Premier League, making 40 league appearances and scoring three goals.

He seems like the perfect option for Gianfranco Zola to go for due to his quality and previous Championship experience that could benefit Blues within the coming months and beyond.

I’m guessing that, if he does sign, he`ll primarily being brought in to play at right back due to the possible departure of Spector that will leave Blues short in the position.

We do have Paul Caddis and Josh Dacres-Cogley but the former has been told that he can leave the club and the latter isn’t yet ready to play week in week out in the Championship.

From what I’ve seen and heard, Nsue is pretty pacy and likes to get forward from full back and support the attack which would suit Zola`s style.

He also seems to be solid when defending and has great power and physicality which Blues do lack a little in the full back spots at present.

He has only played four times in the Premier League this season but £1m for a player of his experience and quality seems like a bargain.

The 27-year-old is being referred to as a wingback which would suggest that Zola is looking for someone that can, firstly defend, but also play an important part in the attacking third.

He seems like a perfect signing for Blues moving forward and, if we are to adapt to Zola`s style of play, then we need players that can do just that. Nsue seems like one of them.
