Blues boss Gianfranco Zola has today confirmed that versatile defender Jonathan Spector could well leave the club this transfer window and join an MLS club back home in America.

The 30-year-old has just six months left on his contract at St Andrews and it is likely that the player would be keen on a move back to his homeland.

Spector has been a crucial part of the team this season and firmly established himself as the number one right back at the club, ahead of Paul Caddis and Josh Dacres-Cogley.

He is also currently Blues` longest serving player at the club after signing under Chris Hughton in the 2011/12 season and has gone on to make 179 appearances.

The news comes after Blues were linked with signing Middlesbrough right back Emilio Nsue.
