Following Connal Trueman’s performance against Middlesbrough at the weekend, a fan asked David Stockdale whether he’d be prepared to come back into the first team fold if Garry Monk changed his mind about the keeper.

Our no.13 replied by saying he’d be “1 million percent” prepared to make a comeback if asked. However, it looks as though that the manager will opt for Lee Camp to play against Reading tonight, with a first-team place up for grabs for Friday’s league encounter versus Swansea.

I asked fans whether we should keep faith with Trueman, try Camp or look to bring back Stockdale, and the vast majority want the ex Brighton keeper back in goal:

My feeling is that Monk won’t be looking to give our former number one another chance. It seems, for the time being at least, that he will use the two keepers currently in his plans.

Camp will get his opportunity against Reading, and if he takes it, there is a big possibility that he’ll keep his place against the Swans. Although Trueman has been praised by the manager, the 22-year-old’s lack of experience was shown up in the Boro defeat, and that may count against him in his battle to keep the no.1 jersey.

  • I don’t think he showed any lack over experience in the Middlesbrough game. He made good saves he pushed the ball on to the post he diverted the ball to knock it over the cross bar. And then pounced on it. There was not much he could do about the goal no keeper was saving that. Had Colin closed down better then the goal would not have happened and it would have been 0-0. Everyone is saying we played badly and Middlesbrough should have won by more but I for one think we played OK and on a different day we may have got something out the game. We was in no way outplayed Middlesbrough could not score any more than one goal and did not so get behind the team and the manager give them support. Stop complaining and KRO.
