Serie B Club Make ‘First Contact’ To Sign Unwanted Birmingham Forward

|

Siena have made “first contact” over signing Diego Fabbrini, according to TMW.

The Italian is not in the club’s first team plans, but he hasn’t been able to secure a move away from St Andrew’s since his return from a loan spell at Real Oviedo last season.

Fabbrini actually sustained a serious knee injury at the beginning of his loan at the Spanish club, but he stayed on and returned to the first team in February.

The 28-year-old made 17 appearances in all competitions for La Liga 2 team, scoring one goal. He had expressed an interest in remaining in Spain but it seems a return to his native Italy is more likely.

He actually played on loan at Siena when he was at Watford back in January 2014. He played ten games, scoring one goal and providing one assist during his six months with the Serie B side.

The Italian side have since been relegated to the Italian third division before gaining promotion back to the second tier last season.
