Transfer talk: Blues enquire about Liverpool defender

Birmingham City manager Harry Redknapp is reportedly interested in Liverpool defender Joe Gomez, according to the Mirror Online.

However, the interest in the young defender could be very short lived with Reds boss Jurgen Klopp reportedly keen to keep hold of the young defender next season.

Alongside Blues in the race for Gomez are believed to be Brighton and Hove Albion and a host of other Sky Bet Championship clubs.

With Blues just completing the £3.5 million signing of Barnsley captain Marc Roberts on a five-year deal, Redknapp now has the four centre halves that he wanted for the upcoming season so a move for Gomez may have never actually been on the cards.
