Birmingham City have completed their second signing of the summer transfer window with the capture of Barnsley captain Marc Roberts.

The centre back has signed a five-year deal with the fee thought to be in the region of around £3.5m.

Roberts, 26, has spent the past two seasons with the Tykes which included a play-off final win to gain promotion to the Championship.

In his first season in second tier football, he made 40 appearances and scored three goals as well as being made captain following the departure of Conor Hourihane.

Blues and Harry Redknapp have beaten off both Championship and Premier League interest for the player who is well thought of following an impressive rise up the leagues.

Welcome to Blues, Marc!
