New Sunderland manager Simon Grayson is interested in taking Tomasz Kuszczak to the Stadium of Light.

Grayson, who took over from David Moyes after leaving Preston last week, is keen to bolster his goalkeeping options after Jordan Pickford joined Everton for £30m.

Kuszczak, 35, was the first choice stopper at St. Andrews last term but David Stockdale, signed on a free from Brighton and Hove Albion three weeks ago, is expected to be number one.

Grayson doesn’t have a great deal of cash to play with but has made it clear that the Black Cats side he has inherited requires strengthening.

Kuszczak still has two years remaining on his contract but could be snapped up for less than half a million.
