The Visitors – Bolton Wanderers

If ever a home game that should be a banker but will end up as a defeat, it is this one. Blues always struggle against the strugglers and Bolton are fighting for their lives.

CURRENT FORM

Blues have only suffered one defeat from their last eight league games but have failed to win in their last three. Two goalless draws at Bristol City and Rotherham with a home defeat against Sheffield Wednesday wedged in between have slowed the play-off bus down somewhat.
Bolton sit bottom of the Championship but have won three of their last six, giving them hope of survival. Neil Lennon`s men are seven points from safety (at the time of writing) still but are scrapping for every point.

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM BOLTON

Bolton will be a tough nut to crack. Expect a hardworking, committed side who will sit back and make the game difficult for Blues. Bolton have the highly rated Zach Clough in their ranks and Blues old boy Emile Heskey who works as hard as ever.

I don`t expect many goals. The Trotters have averaged less than a goal a game and have conceded 52. But Blues may struggle to break down a stubborn side.

HOW THE TABLES HAVE TURNED

Bolton were the opponents when Blues survived relegation to League One after Paul Caddis` last gasp equaliser at the Macron Stadium. That day, their fans were brilliant with us so I hope their faith is rewarded with survival, just like ours was.

Dean Holdsworth`s consortium is close to a takeover of the club. Although it may have come a tad too late to preserve their Championship status, the club can at least start afresh with new owners.

THOUGHTS FROM VITAL BOLTON

As always, I’m excited by the news but I have been a Bolton Wanderers fan long enough to question almost every aspect of it.

Who will take over? Roger Tamraz has the money, but is he credible and does he have the club at heart? The same can be asked of some of the less publicised interested parties. Does Sports Shield or the BWSA have enough investment? Why have things been taking so long if all of these parties have been interested for so long?

We’ve been ‘on the verge’ of takeover/administration before, only for parties to pull out or for things not to go through, or for people to come up with misinformed headlines – Nicky Crompton, bolton.vitalfootball.co.uk

THE FANS VIEWS

Barney Grumbe (via Vital Bolton) – Pity this couldn’t have been agreed much earlier! If it had, maybe by this time we could have been out of the bottom three! Having said that, it is a complicated matter and one that should be undertaken carefully. Now, we can all look forward to the future!!

@HiggyRascal – Thank goodness there is a beginning. It could have been the end. To those already criticising the deal try and remember that. #bwfc.

@seanyroth90 – Dean Holdsworth the only chairman to clear twin towers at wembley from penalty spot #bwfc

@whiskiesmum – Well here goes another day trawling through twitter looking for #BWFC takeover info & hoping that today that searching ends with good news
