Diego Fabbrini looks set to leave Birmingham City with Real Oviedo said to be closing in on the Italian, according to reports in the Spanish press.

It is not known whether the move will be a loan or permanant, but the 26-year-old is currently in Spain to sign his contract with the Segunda Divisíon club.

Fabbrini has struggled in his second spell at Blues and spent the second half of last season on loan with Serie B club Spezia.

He was signed permanantly by Gary Rowett for around £1.5m in January 2016 but the form of Jon Toral limited the attackers opportunities.

It now seems that he is surplus to requirements under Harry Redknapp with his inevitable departure edging closer.

Fabbrini’s last league appearance came for Blues in the 0-0 draw with Nottingham Forest in January.
