Opinions split as some Blues fans pine for ‘entertaining’ football of former boss

|

With City struggling for form – and results – of late, some sections of the Blues fanbase have started questioning the future of Pep Clotet, with many feeling Chris Hughton should replace the Spaniard.

The supporters appear split on Clotet, some backing their manager and believing their luck will change soon, while others feel a change is needed for the situation to improve.

City, results-wise, are regressing on the pitch, having lost their last three. Clotet’s men still sit comfortably in mid-table but with the current slump, some feel a return to the club for Chris Hughton would be beneficial for the club.

Hughton, out of work since leaving Premier League Brighton in the summer, managed the Blues previously, spending just one, successful, season with the club (2011/2012 campaign) as City finished fourth in the Championship before Hughton left the role.

The former Republic of Ireland international is a popular figure throughout football and a very experienced – and successful – manager at Championship level.

In the event that Clotet is unable to turn things around and the pressure intensifies from the terraces, the board may consider a change in the foreseeable future. Some Blues fans have taken to Twitter to show their support for the return of Hughton. Here’s what was said:

Many Blues fans have commented on the quality of football played in Hughton’s previous spell at the club and how they’d love to see him return.

Other City followers feel that while performances are still decent, if they don’t start picking up results Pep Clotet could find himself in a difficult situation. While certain fans believe new ownership of the club is needed alongside the managerial appointment of Chris Hughton.
