As Birmingham City fans will know, the most talked about position in the Blues team are the attacking ones. Despite having three championship standard strikers in the team, Clayton Donaldson, Lee Novak and Wes Thomas, Gary Rowett’s squad still needs some more back up.

I believe I have identified three strikers that are within our price range and that would add that little something extra to the squad.

The first striker that I believe would fit nicely into a team is Peniel Mlapa. The striker has already had a short trial perod with the club and he has even played a game for us. He looked around the standard that we already have but he would definitely add something that little bit extra to one of Rowett’s sides should he choose to experiment.

With a suggested fee of around £500,000, Mlapa would be well within the price range of Blues but it is still unclear as to whether or not Rowett and his team have seen enough of the Togo-born striker.

Personally, for me, Mlapa would be my number one target and I would try my best to sign him ahead of anybody else.

Secondly, another striker that I have identified is Adam Le Fondre. The little pocket rocket striker is proven at championship level and would be a fantastic addition to the squad! He would add goals, flair and something completely different to the forwards that we have at the moment.

Valued at just over £1 million, Le Fondre might be just out of our price range but what’s to stop us from putting a bid in for him. It is clear from some of his interviews that he wants to leave Cardiff City after a successful loan spell at Bolton Wanderers and I believe he would be a good signing for Rowett.

Finally, the third striker that I have identified is Matt Derbyshire. A former Blues loanee from 2010, Derbyshire enjoyed a successful season in the championship with strugglers Rotherham United scoring nine goals in 34 appearances last term.

The strikers fee is unknown and it would be highly unlikely that he would want to come back to the Midlands but what would be the harm in trying to get him back?

I believe he would again be someone that would add something different to Rowett’s squad but would he be able to compete with what we already have, I am not to sure!

Blues fans, what do you make of the three suggestions above? Do you think they are realistic ones? Or do you think I am just being silly? Let me know down in the comment section!
