Pre Season Performers

With it now being only two weeks until the start of the season, every player in Gary Rowett’s squad will be looking to stake themselves a claim for a starting spot against Reading. Two pre season games remain and the Blues squad will face the toughest opposition yet in Benfica (B) and Leicester City. Some players have stood out from the pack in the five matches so far and will look to continue this form against the tougher opposition and get themselves that treasured starting spot the 8th of August.

Here I look at the best performers throughout the pre season campaign so far…

Reece Brown

The nineteen year old playmaking midfielder is certainly one for the future, before the pre season campaign kicked in, it was seriously expected that Brown would send the season away from the club in a possible loan deal. However, Brown has proven all at the club that he could be a key asset this season as he has managed to outshine his fellow midfielders. Brown offers something different in the centre of the park and I feel him and David Davis could form a very good partnership in the centre of midfield. Hopefully Brown can continue to impress in the remaining games and earn himself a starting spot.

Lee Novak

If every footballer had the never say die attitude of Lee Novak, the game would be impossible not to love. Novak has stood out as one of the top performers so far after a disappointing campaign last season. Gary Rowett has been full of praise for the ex Huddersfield man as apart from the poor team display against Burton, Novak has stood out in every game so far. With Novak’s versatility, he could rightfully earn himself a starting spot anywhere across that expected front three. I would be very happy for Novak to start the first game as his performances have merited it way ahead of many others.

Adam Legzdins

The newly signed shot stopper has been another of my top performers. With it likely that the ex academy graduate will start the season as the number two keeper, Legzdins has provided food for thought for manager Gary Rowett. Number one keeper Tom Kusczak hasn’t performed to any sort of level that has been expected of the Champions league winner and was at fault for the goal at Kiddermimster. Legzdins has shown that he would be a more than capable understudy to the Polish keeper with some solid performances so far. Kusczak however seems to be error prone and I wouldn’t be surprised if by the end of the season, Legzdins is the number one stopper.

Why not let me know in the comments who you feel has performed well this pre season?
