Many Blues fans will be relieved at the fact that the majority of Gary Rowett’s star players have remained with the club for the foreseeable future.

However, there were two shocks in the outgoing department for Birmingham City.

The most notable shock was the departure of striker Wes Thomas. The forward has joined League One side Swindon Town on a six month loan deal which will run until the 6th of January.

Personally I believe that this is a move that Blues shouldn’t have proceeded with. Allowing Thomas to leave now means that the Blues are left with just two options in the attacking department.

I know Clayton Donaldson and Nicolai Brock-Madsen will more than likely do the job for us but what would happen if they were to both injure themselves? Blues would be left in the lurch!

Wes Thomas is a player who hasn’t had many chances in the first team squad and a move to Swindon isn’t a bad move for him but I personally don’t agree with it.

The next shock that took many fans on social media by surprise was the sale of third choice goalkeeper Nick Townsend.

Academy produced shot stopper Townsend moved to Barnsley earlier in the window on loan but the League One side opted to make the loan move a permanent one.

The 20 year old has found chances limited at Blues and a move away was always going to be likely but once again for me, I can’t see why the club have proceeded with this deal.

No official fee has been announced but I can only imagine that it isn’t a substantial one, perhaps just under £500,000?

The young keeper had great potential but with the arrival of keepers Tomasz Kuszczak and Adam Legzdins, his chances were once again cut even shorter.

Others rumours that were flying around on social media during transfer deadline day were that Clayton Donaldson was heading out on loan to Rotherham, which if you ask me was just laughable, and Michael Morrison heading to Huddersfield Town, which again if you were to ask me is a joke.

Blues fans, were you disappointed on deadline day? Were you expecting anybody to come into the club? Were you surprised with the outgoings at St.Andrews? Let us know in the comment section down below!
