It’s transfer deadline day and, as usual, it’s been a far from exciting one. Wes Thomas has joined Swindon Town on loan and Nick Townsend has joined Barnsley on a permanent deal.

As expected, some Blues fans have been panicking over the lack of incoming activity. But panic not, the loan window for Football League clubs opens next week‎ and Gary Rowett fully intends to utilise it.

A couple of players have been earmarked by the Blues manager who will use the international break to try and push the deals over the line.

Blues are not in action until 12 September giving Rowett the time to work his magic.

A source close to the club said- ‘we fully expect the couple of deals done today, in terms of outgoings, to be the end of the our transfer business until the loan window opens next week. Gary has players in mind to bring to St. Andrews on loan deals but must wait for the window to open’.

When asked about the situation with Demarai Gray, the source commented- ‘Demarai is a Birmingham City player and we expect that to remain the case. The player has not indicated he wants to leave, nor have we received a bid’.
