With the January transfer window only a two weeks away now, Birmingham City boss Gary Rowett will surely be looking at his options.

The obvious choices for many fans would be to stay in England and see what talent Blues can bring in, but you have to look further in order to find a hidden gem in my opinion.

In the emergency loan window, Rowett really struggled to bring in players from Premier League clubs and I feel it will be the same in the transfer window.

James Vaughan so far has been a positive signing and someone who has definitely filled the void of the injured Clayton Donaldson, but we really need a goal scorer who can rival the Jamaican forward.

For me, if I was one of Rowett’s scouts, I would be suggesting that he sends me back to the Netherlands as I feel there are some real gems to be had from the Eredivisie.

During the summer Blues brought in Maikel Kieftenbeld and for me he has been one of the buys of the season, not just for Blues, but in the whole Championship.

His determination and desire to play for Blues really shows when he is out on the pitch and wearing the royal blue shirt (or the red, black and yellow strip).

Kieftenbeld is always up for a good tussle and he isn’t afraid to throw himself into a tackle because nine times out of ten he will go and win the ball because he has fantastic confidence.

On this basis alone, I would be heading back to the Dutch league in search of some more players. Whether that be another midfielder, a new forward or even a defender, I think we should be looking at the talent that is currently on offer in Holland.

Blues fans, do you agree that we should scout out the Dutch league once again? Do you think there are more hidden gems to be found? Let us know in the comment section down below!
