Birmingham City face Sheffield Wednesday on Boxing day in another play-off place battle.

The trip to Hillsborough will see eighth placed Blues take on seventh placed Wednesday, with only goal difference separating the pair in the league.

Gary Rowett’s men head into the game off the back of a hard fought 1-0 win against Cardiff City last time out, but it is the Owls who will feel more confident having thrashed Blues’ local rival Wolverhampton Wanderers 4-1 on Sunday.

This game will be key for each side as whoever wins it will have the upper hand over the other in the fight for one of those four luxurious play-off spots.

Personally I don’t think that Rowett will be looking to change much going into this game, but if left back Jonathan Grounds is fit again, I think he will regain his spot in the side and Paul Caddis is likely to return to the side.

Below is the side that I would send out to face the Owls as well as the substitutes…

GK: Kuszczak
RB: Caddis
CB: Morrison
CB: Spector
LB: Grounds
CDM: Kieftenbeld
CDM: Gleeson
RAM: Gray
CAM: Toral
LAM: Maghoma
ST: Vaughan

Substitutes: Legzdins, Halford, Cotterill, Donaldson, Davis, Solomon-Otabor, Brock-Madsen.

As you can see I have made two changes to the side that beat the Bluebirds last time out and those were the two changes that I was previously talking about with Grounds and Caddis replacing Shane Lowry and Neal Eardley.

There is also a return to the bench for David Cotterill and Clayton Donaldson who have been deemed fit enough to travel with the squad following their long term spells on the injury table.

Blues fans, what do you make of the side that has been predicted? Do you agree with the changes that have been made? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section down below!
