Vital Birmingham’s Tom Heslop is reporting that we could be considering a move for Villa’s Scott Hogan as we look to sign a striker this summer.
Our rivals signed the forward from Brentford for £12m in January 2017, but he has failed to make much of an impact at Villa Park.
Supporters were highly sceptical about us making a move for the 26-year-old:
If he’s not good enough for Villa then why is he good enough for us. #bcfc

We haven't got 4 mil that's the problem.

I'd love Hogan at St Andrews, especially now we're playing on the deck a bit more. Think he'd fit in very nicely.

Just keep throwing 3/4/5 mill at him until they are basically forced to accept around the end of the window

I’d take him

They'll want way to much for him. Only got to look at how much talk about Grealish and the 40m price tag ????????

Verdict:
The Republic of Ireland international has only scored 10 goals in 54 appearances for Villa, and would still likely cost a lot of money even with their financial problems.
As Tom says, this is likely a “non-starter” but I am keen to see us start to make some moves in the transfer market.
A goalkeeper, a playmaker and a striker are our main priorities but so far the only likely signing has been the Danish left back Kristian Pedersen from Union Berlin, but even that hasn’t been finalised despite it looking odds-on that he’ll sign.
