As the two week mark of the January transfer window strikes us, Birmingham City have once again been linked with another central midfielder.

Last week it was believed that Granada midfielder Rene Krhin was set to sign for the club, only for him to head back to Spain and continue training with the La Liga outfit.

Well yesterday reports surfaced that the club were interested in Swedish midfielder Robin Quaison, a 23-year-old who plays for Italian side Palermo.

The reports are believed to be accurate with Gianfranco Zola keen to bring in the young midfielder who can play in the middle of the park as well as out wide on the left.

A source close to Vital Birmingham has confirmed the interest but has also revealed that a deal for the midfielder who has featured in the last three seasons of the Italian league, would be a complicated one to complete.

Alongside Blues it is believed that there are a number of other teams chasing his signature, most notably other Italian sides, so if Blues want to sign him, they better act quickly otherwise they risk losing out on yet another target.

Blues fans, would you like to see a player from abroad brought in or would you prefer to have players who know what the Championship is about come in? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section down below!

  • We need to look at full backs not the midfield to suit Zola’s method of playing. The Championship is not suited to these skillful midfielders who require time to adjust to the hustle and bustle of the league. Look at Burnley and Middlesbrough’s midfield when they got promoted, grafters with high work rates.

  • Now Gardner’s arrived we need a striker and a defensive player , a striker because we lack goals and a defensive player whether that is a tall defensive midfield player or a defender as we leek goals under pressure ….No excuses from the board or owners , we are working on a limit .there is money we need players ..Compared to wealthier owners we have to get players in or fail …Who is the weakest link ….Come on

  • We need 2 full backs, left and right. If anything definitely 1 left back to challenge Jonathan Grounds. Also another winger and striker.

  • Quaison, plays more in a 4-3-3 so would fit Zola’s system I don’t see him as a necessity because Adams can do that job. But What we do need a left back that can cross the ball and we do need a striker. Donaldson not getting any younger and out for 6-7weeks. KRO
