Assistant manager Terry McDermott was left to face the press after Blues went down 3-2 at home to Hull City on Saturday.

Manager Lee Clark was supposed to have had a loss of voice during the game that saw the visitor’s race to a 3-0 lead while Blues got their bearings.

One thing McDermott was right about, he feels that Blues have no chance of reaching the play offs with performances like this.

It was only Hull’s second win at St Andrew’s in more than 100 years and it left Birmingham seven points above the relegation zone and eight adrift of the play-off places.

McDermott told reporters: ‘We are all devastated. The only thing to be pleased about was showing some character to come back with two goals.

‘To go three goals down a lot of teams would have thrown in the towel but they kept going. We gave it go but to concede three goals at home is not acceptable. We are all devastated.

‘If you don’t win your home games you are not going to be in the play-offs. You should not have to score four goals at home to win.’
