Keep the silver fox out of the box!

A question that has been on may Birmingham City fans’ lips ahead of the huge game against local rivals Aston Villa this weekend is who will replace the suspended Jonathan Grounds.

Well, the answer is quite simple really. Rhoys Wiggins will.

It was always going to be a baptism of fire for Wiggins when he finally got his chance to pull on a Blues shirt from the start of a game, but his introduction couldn’t have come at a better time for him.

Yes, a lot of people will say that he should have been in the team sooner because Grounds is ‘rubbish’ or ‘useless’. Give over guys, Grounds has been superb for us so far this season! Who cares if he has a blip every 10 games, Michael Morrison and Ryan Shotton have them but nobody complains about them!

However, the other man in question to replace Grounds, who picked up his fifth yellow card of the season in last Friday’s defeat against Burton Albion, is veteran Paul Robinson.

Again, a lot of fans will say, well yes, Robinson should go straight into the team for this game because he knows how to handle the atmosphere and the expectation!

Fair enough, Robinson might know how to handle all those parts of the game but could he really handle the likes of Albert Adomah or Jonathan Kodjia hurtling towards him, I think not!

Granted, on loan Bournemouth defender Wiggins is a little untested so he is an unknown quantity as such but that might work in our favour.

There is just one thing to remember and I hope it is something that Gary Rowett has in the back of his mind, if Robinson is to come on in this game, Blues have to be winning and he needs to be sitting in front of the back four.

Otherwise Mr.Rowett…please keep that silver fox out of our box!

Blues fans, do you agree that Rhoys Wiggins is the man to replace Jonathan Grounds for the big game against Aston Villa? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section down below!
