Yesterday afternoon pictures appeared of former Birmingham City loanee Jon Toral with current club captain Paul Robinson.

Of course, these pictures sent fans into the immediate speculation that Toral was in fact going to be rejoining the club for the 2017/18 Sky Bet Championship campaign.

However, the news wasn’t met with the ‘OFFICIAL’ tweet that we all wanted to see from the Blues Twitter account but it was met with the news that Toral and Robinson have remained in contact despite the Spaniard being at two separate clubs over the last season.

Toral, 22, enjoyed a superb loan spell with Blues in the 2015/16 season scoring eight goals in all competitions and it was to Vital Birmingham’s knowledge that former manager Gary Rowett wanted to resign him once again last summer.

However, the move didn’t materialise and Toral moved back to Spain for the first half of last season, although the move didn’t work out as planned so he was then sent on loan to Scottish side Rangers.

Birmingham Mail reporter Brian Dick confirmed on Twitter yesterday that he had spoken to manager Harry Redknapp and the Blues boss confirmed that he is aware of Toral’s availability and with the player knowing the area well and knowing the club as well a move would seem very logical.

The are plenty of Blues fans who would love to see Toral back at the club following what was a glistening first spell with Blues and I believe that if Redknapp did make a move for the young Arsenal midfielder it would only boost his reputation with the fan base.

As we all know, 70-year-old Redknapp has already built up a fantastic relationship with all of the Blues fans following his heroics at the end of the last Championship campaign and signing Toral would further strengthen that bond in my opinion.

Personally, I would love to see the club make a move for Toral once again because I think that he is a player of real quality and I think it would be a joy to see him and Che Adams in the same team next season.

Whether Harry wants to make that happen, I am unsure at the moment but make sure you stay tuned to Vital Birmingham because we will have more as this story unfolds.

Blues fans, would you like to see the club make a move to resign Jon Toral this summer? Let us know in the comment section down below!

  • Perhaps it’s me-but was he that good? Never got over excited with him.Rowett dropped him a few times then he came back in and did decent. Shades of Tesche? To me lets move on with a fresh face.

  • July 1st will see the new players coming in as they begin their new careers at Blues. It will be fascinating to see if any of the suggested names banded around this month will be coming. One we really cannot predict is John Terry. My water tells me he may just plumb for Uncle Harry.

  • Wasn’t Robbo best man at Toral’s wedding? Who’d have thought two footballers would stay pals when they move on to different things! Blues fans need to get over Toral, he hasn’t set the world on fire since leaving, sdtruggled at 2 other clubs, I’m pretty sure we woud’ve offered him a deal when Arsenal released him and he choose against us.

  • MarkJ88 – Toral is still under contract at Arsenal isn’t he for another year? That’s why they want to loan him out for another season.

  • Toral, scored 8 goals from midfield for us how can anyone say he ant that good. We have strikers that have dune les. Last season for rangers he only made 12 appearances and he was played wide left and right and attacking midfield he scored 2 Goals but come on he was never given time to settle in one position never was he given any real playing time. What would we give for that 8 goals now.

  • He is a fantastic footballer, please sign him for another season Harry. He outshone every one at Blues, he played the 10 role perfectly always looked a threat good awareness of players around him was especially good at creating chances for The Don.

  • He is valued at 2.4m we could get him permanently It would not have to be a loan. One year remaining on his contract and nether going to get in the arsenal side.
