Yesterday afternoon pictures appeared of former Birmingham City loanee Jon Toral with current club captain Paul Robinson.

Of course, these pictures sent fans into the immediate speculation that Toral was in fact going to be rejoining the club for the 2017/18 Sky Bet Championship campaign.

However, the news wasn’t met with the ‘OFFICIAL’ tweet that we all wanted to see from the Blues Twitter account but it was met with the news that Toral and Robinson have remained in contact despite the Spaniard being at two separate clubs over the last season.

Toral, 22, enjoyed a superb loan spell with Blues in the 2015/16 season scoring eight goals in all competitions and it was to Vital Birmingham’s knowledge that former manager Gary Rowett wanted to resign him once again last summer.

However, the move didn’t materialise and Toral moved back to Spain for the first half of last season, although the move didn’t work out as planned so he was then sent on loan to Scottish side Rangers.

Birmingham Mail reporter Brian Dick confirmed on Twitter yesterday that he had spoken to manager Harry Redknapp and the Blues boss confirmed that he is aware of Toral’s availability and with the player knowing the area well and knowing the club as well a move would seem very logical.

The are plenty of Blues fans who would love to see Toral back at the club following what was a glistening first spell with Blues and I believe that if Redknapp did make a move for the young Arsenal midfielder it would only boost his reputation with the fan base.

As we all know, 70-year-old Redknapp has already built up a fantastic relationship with all of the Blues fans following his heroics at the end of the last Championship campaign and signing Toral would further strengthen that bond in my opinion.

Personally, I would love to see the club make a move for Toral once again because I think that he is a player of real quality and I think it would be a joy to see him and Che Adams in the same team next season.

Whether Harry wants to make that happen, I am unsure at the moment but make sure you stay tuned to Vital Birmingham because we will have more as this story unfolds.
