Birmingham City have rejected an offer for midfielder Stephen Gleeson.

An unidentified Championship club made the offer, understood to be in the region of £500,000, yesterday evening and were rebuffed in their attempts to land the Irishman.

Gleeson, 28, has made 118 appearances for the club since joining from MK Dons in the summer of 2014.

The Dubliner struggled to make an impact during his early days in B9 but was a virtual ever present during the 2015/16 campaign where he established himself as a key player with some impressive performances and five goals.

Last season was a difficult one for Gleeson who failed to recapture his previous form and was then hampered by injuries.

  • A decent player on his day but played in a variety of midfield roles last season and apart from a few injuries never really made any of them his own. It doesnt help when being moved around or playing in a desperate team

  • why would we want to move Gleeson on. He is what keeps the midfield ticking over when he is ijn as a four or a three in the diamond. Quality player. He never got the chance last season. I guarantee him playing in the role that suits him next season especially with Harry at the helm KRO
