Ex-Birmingham City midfielder Lee Carsely is set to come up against his old side when Gary Rowett’s men travel to Brentford on Tuesday night.

Following the news that the Bee’s boss Marinus Dijkhuizen had been fired from his position at the club, along with his assistant coach, Lee Carsley was put in charge for the immediate future.

The Birmingham born midfielder, now aged 41, made over 470 league and cup appearances during his playing days. While he was with the Blues, the defensive player made 48 appearances, scoring twice in all competitions.

Carsley, who has previously managed League One side Coventry City, will be looking to turn Brentford’s poor league start around and claim only their third league win of the season.

Their previous two wins have come against newly promoted sides Preston North End and Bristol City. Along with the two wins for the Bee’s they have also lost five games in all competitions this season, drawing twice also.

Blues, like the Bee’s, will be looking to get back in amongst the wins. Rowett’s men have only tasted victory once in the month of September, a 4-2 win at home against Bristol City.

Along with the one win, Blues have lost three of their last four games, conceding four goals in the process.

Fans attending the game can expect plenty of goals with Birmingham City having only kept one clean sheet all season and Brentford having kept none at all!
