Rob Wildey speaks to Alana Hall, a Brighton fan, ahead of Blues’ trip to the Amex tomorrow.

What is your opinion of Chris Hughton?

He’s a brilliant manager. He’s guided us to the verge of the Premier League and he deserves massive credit for that. We’ve had bumps along the way but we are so close. When everyone, the fans included, seem to be losing their heads, Hughton is calmness personified.

How close is close?

We’re nine points clear of third place so another two wins should seal the deal, I reckon.

What will the expectations be next season?

Survival. Assuming we go up this season, the mentality will be the total opposite next season. We will go from being a side who expect to win every game to a side who will be counting every single point as a bonus. Sadly, if we do struggle, you could see Hughton out of a job this time next year – that’s how football works unfortunately.

Brighton were Gianfranco Zola’s first opponents as Birmingham manager. What are you expecting this time round?

Having family from the Midlands, I have watched Birmingham a handful of times under Gary Rowett and Zola. The difference in style of play is stark. Our visit to St. Andrews in December was a let off for us, we we’re outplayed for an hour but luckily had quality to bring off the bench. I’m expecting another tough game. An early goal for you lot would give our fans the jitters.

What is your prediction for the game?

I’m going for Brighton to sneak it… 2-1.
