‘A  early goal will give our fans the jitters’. That was a comment made by the Brighton fan we interviewed this week. And reading reports of their win at the weekend against Blackburn, it seems that the Amex is a nail biting place right now.

Gianfranco Zola will be aware of this. He had scouts at the Amex on Saturday reporting back the finer details.

But which way does he go? Attack from the off and Blues may be annihilated, admittedly. But they may just catch Chris Hughton’s men with squeaky bums. On the other hand, sitting back could invite needless pressure and hand the hosts the initiative. Zola said he will take the reins off the attacking players who are currently kicking their heels on the bench ‘once we are safe’. Why not do it tonight? Blues are struggling in front of goal, they need a creative spark.

This is how managers earn their money. But if we’re being frank, Zola has absolutely nothing to lose tonight in a game in which Blues are a distant second favourite.

Six points separate Blues from the dreaded bottom three. Their next two games are against two previous managers. Cor blimey.

As always, Keep Right On!
