Blues have announced through the club website that they have sent 20 year old striker Denny Johnstone out on loan for the season to Scottish championship side Greenock Morton.

Johnstone will stay with Morton until next June when he will once again link back up with the Blues for another preseason.

The loan move signals the fact that manager Gary Rowett feels Johnstone will progress better away from the championship, with games for the forward most likely limited.

Johnstone, a Scottish under 19 international, spent time with Rowett’s old club Burton Albion last year, along with Cheltenham Town. During his time with both sides, he netted once for each.

Before the loan move is all done a dusted, the move is subject to international clearance but both sides don’t see there being a problem with gaining that.

Since joining from Celtic for an undisclosed fee last July, Johnstone has made just two appearances for the Blues.

Blues fans, do you think it was a smart move sending Johnstone out on loan? Do you think he will come back a better player? Why do you think he has gone back to Scotland and not stayed in English football? Let us know in the comment section down below!
