Following his first goal of the Championship season on Saturday against Leeds United at Elland Road, teenage sensation Demarai Gray told BluesTV how hard he has been working in training.

The goal will hopefully be the first of many more for the 19 year old, who is set to link up with the England Under 19s squad in the coming weeks.

A break away from the Blues squad could do him the world of good but it could also halt his progression. However, following his last trip away with them, Blues fans will be hoping he comes back with the same determination he did last time.

Speaking after the game, Gray said: ‘Obviously, in training, it’s what I’m working on all the time and the gaffer said before the game, as soon as you get a yard just smash it and obviously it’s paid off today.’

A goal is something that has been missing from Gray’s performances this season and he, along with manager Gary Rowett, will be hoping that this one will lead to many more.

The strike, which is only his seventh in the league in the last 12 months, came following some tenacious work from Clayton Donaldson, who bagged yet another assist to add to the four he already had prior to the game.

Many fans have been concerned about Gray’s end product, which seems to be one of the only things missing from the youngsters game, but the quality of the finish on Saturday will hopefully be the start of him proving some of his doubters wrong.

Blues fans, are you happy that Gray is off the mark in the league? Do you think this goal will now lead on to more? Let us know in the comment section down below!
