Opinion: Win against Leeds United our best yet?

Birmingham City recorded back to back 2-0 away wins following their success on Saturday against Leeds United.

The win comes off the back of another fantastic performance away at Brentford last Tuesday night but I believe the win against Uwe Rosler’s side was the best win that we have seen all season.

Some would say, myself included, that the win was a typical Blues one. Having only had 35% of the possession throughout the game, around the same amount that we had on Tuesday night, we still walked away from another Championship fixture with maximum points.

Despite Leeds having the majority of the possession and perhaps even the better of the chances, Blues were once again clinical in front of goal and could have even made it three or four nil!

Had Gray done better with the counter attack in the second half which left Leeds with just one defender against three Birmingham City players and Donaldson slotted away just one of the few chances he had then we could have been talking about a much more comfortable win.

Despite that, a win is a win, and what a fantastic one it was! Even though Leeds haven’t won at home this season, their manager, Rosler, knew exactly what Rowett’s men were about, yet they still couldn’t stop them!

The emphatic finish from Demarai Gray in the first half and the blistering run from Jacques Maghoma in the dying minutes once again highlighted what Blues are about when playing on the road.

Rowett’s men now have the best away from in the league, with 11 points from a possible 15 and I suspect that things will just continue to advance and get better.

The win against the LillyWhites was the best away win for me because of the manner of it. We went to Elland Road with a game plan and we executed it to perfection.

I think manager Rowett summed it up fantastically with his quotes after the game. He called the performance ‘A wonderful effort by everyone.’

The fact that he knows the win was gained from a whole team performance rather than an individual one just highlights how humble he is as a manager and how appreciative he is as well.

Blues fans, were you one of the 898 fans that travelled on the day? Do you agree that this was our best away performance of the season so far? Let us know in the comment section down below!
