After his first goal of the season on Saturday against Charlton Athletic it seems like summer signing David Davis is just as confident off the pitch as he is on it. A tweet from Official twitter account @bcfc had announced the former Wolves man as Saturday`s man of the match voted for by the fans and as it usually goes that is that. However to the delight of former team-mate David Cotterill the tweet carried on!
A cheeky Charlton supporter obviously still aggrieved about his side dropping two points against Birmingham tweeted the club saying; ‘do you have a thing for fat footballers?` leading to a hilarious twitter war of words and pictures between the fan and Davis himself.
Davis replied with a picture of his torso clearly showing that he did not have an ounce of fat on him leading to some choice words to come from the fan towards the 23 year old. To make it even funnier the midfielder`s team mate, David Cotterill then carried on the tweet with numerous laughing faces and jokingly claim that Davis was breathing in to the hysterics of both players.
This season Davis has been very calm and composed on the pitch but after resisting the temptation to snap back at a fan he is clearly well trained in keeping a cool head on the net too. Social networking is great for fans to get in contact with their idols but it is encouraging to see that when it turns sour that Birmingham`s player was big enough to turn away from insults and turn it into a joke. Davis and his side now go into the international break off the back of two encouraging results against Millwall and Charlton respectively.
However much this Charlton fan may think however, I don`t think Davis will need to spend much time in the gym after fans got a glimpse of his physique. Instead he will carry on to impress manager Lee Clark and build on looking to add more goals to his game as he did on Saturday and prove his doubters wrong on the pitch instead of on the web.
