Blues can go into the October International break high on confidence after picking up four points from a possible six at two hard away games last week. The 3-1 win over Millwall and battling 1-1 draw away at Charlton now gives Blues a four point cushion from the Championship relegation zone and Lee Clark will now be able to work on his players over the next twelve days to make sure that they carry on their improved form when they face Bolton Wanderers at home on the 18th of this month.

After bringing Callum Reilly back into the side away at Norwich earlier this month he has shone and given Blues a real cutting edge in the middle of the pitch. His tough tackling and ability to break up play is one of the reasons that Birmingham City have looked so solid on the road in these past two games and this can only be an encouraging sign of things to come. Reilly and Davis seem to have connected in midfield and have a strong understanding in the middle of the park which showed as Birmingham completely out passed Charlton at the Valley on Saturday with 53% of the possession.

The new found ability to hit the net now must also be encouraging for Lee Clark as his side has scored four goals in their last two fixtures with forwards Wes Thomas and Clayton Donaldson both finding the back of the net. In the early part of the season Blues found it hard to show enough flair in the final third of the pitch but David Cotterill`s fine form coinciding with youngsters Demarai Gray and Koby Arthur impressing it now seems that Lee Clark has found the right mix between attack and defence in his side.

With only David Edgar, David Cotterill and Darren Randolph away on duty for their respective International sides the rest and recuperation for the Blues players will be vital and come 3 o`clock on Saturday the 18th October Blues should be firing on all cylinders against bottom of the table side Bolton Wanderers.

It may have taken manager Clark ten games to find it but he now seems to have a settled side and this can only breed confidence especially while results are good. With Birmingham`s next three games against Bolton, Blackburn and Bournemouth the Blues should be looking to pick up points. Two of these sides are placed in mid-table and Bolton are 24th giving Birmingham City a great chance to build on the last two encouraging results and push on up the table from next Saturday onwards.
