Thanks to the local authority and who ever I missed the first ten minutes of the match. Why the kick off was not delayed with thousands outside was unbelievable. In effect the game was over by the time I got inside. Blues after 5 minutes were looking at scoring a two month goal ration to get in the game.
To be fair the 32 minutes I saw before Crouch netted his second wasn?t bad. Blues then allowed Luis Garcia to wriggle past two defenders. Taylor had the opportunity to take man and ball over the main stand but chose to admire the footwork. The ball broke to the big England forward who shovelled it past Maik Taylor in his own inimitable style.
Bruce whipped off Taylor and replaced him with Tebily at half time. Liverpool just picked us of like pulling wings off a daddy long legs. Gerrard with the freedom of the borough picked out Morientes who netted with his first touch. Riise fired a 25 yarder that Taylor never saw. Kewell out paced Melchiot and crossed for Tebily to turn into his own net. Cisse then exploiting the right side that had been open all night and fired under Taylor who should have done better.
Relatively the crowd were subdued probably because when they heard the team announced they suspected they were in for a drubbing. They, unlike the manager Bruce they were not shocked. This has been coming and no-one was surprised.
As much as I like Steve Bruce as a person as a friend I would say don?t hang around to be fired. Do the honourable thing.
Trevor Francis took a 6-0 drubbing, won the next game away and then got sacked. Blues fans would take that now.
