Long after the present crop of players have left Blues and indeed retired to their tax havens, that result will be hurting Blues fans. Every time a conversation about football occurs that result will be trawled out and used against us. We were a club defined as the biggest club to have one nothing. Now we are the team that capitulated in front of a packed St Andrews and millions of TV viewers. When you look in your Rothmans book at records the majority are from 2 centuries ago and irrelevant.

How often do you hear Arsenal fans ribbed about their record defeat against Loughborough Town in eighteen o?breakfast time? Certainly in what?s left in my life Liverpool seven Blues nil will define my football club.

David Sullivan seems always to capture the mood of the fans. Although they are divided on the Manager?s future they are absolutely clear that the players owe the fans BIG TIME..

The players have shown loyalty to Steve Bruce. It?s him who has given them the salaries that the cup defeat shows they don?t deserve. His motivation skills are nil. Nicky Butt for example can go back to Newcastle if we go down. When did Nicky realise that would be a better option? Jarosik is in the same position. Cunningham and Melchiot are out of contract and to their credit have not yet fixed themselves up with another club. Unofficially they may well be. Matty Upson will not commit his future to Blues and several players have refused to come.

Now he have announced a clearout whatever division we are in next season. What kind of motivation is that? ?Do your best lads, keep us up and we can bring in a load of players to replace you!?

A three nil victory at Old Trafford on Sunday will just about redress the balance. With no hope of that in the next 20 years Mr Bruce has achieved his target of reducing expectation. It?s now ZERO.
