Birmingham City could make a summer move for Cardiff City defender Ben Turner. The 28 year-old, who supported Blues as a child, is out of contract in June and is free to talk to interested clubs.

Blues manager Gary Rowett is aiming to strengthen a number of areas, including the centre of defence, this pre-season and Turner, formerly of Coventry City, is an option being considered.

The Brummie played against Blues in the final game of the season at the Cardiff City Stadium and was lucky not to have been sent off in the 1-1 draw. Cardiff are yet to commit to offering him a new deal.

Released Bolton defender David Wheater has also been considered but Rowett is thought to have cooled his interest in the 29 year-old.
