Gianfranco Zola will not resign as manager of Birmingham City.

During his post match press conference after yesterday’s defeat to QPR, the Italian said- ‘I really care about this club and I want to help them. As long as they trust me I am willing to try and do my best for everyone at St Andrew’s. At the moment I am feeling very low but I take full responsibility. I am probably not giving enough and it is making me upset. I have committed myself to the club and I am doing it with a lot of passion. We do not like where we are at the present time.’

Blues have won just six points from a possible 36 since Zola took over from Gary Rowett in December, a record that has seen them slip into a relegation battle.

Zola will meet with the owners in the next 48 hours and talks are likely to address his future, whether that is at St. Andrews or not remains unclear.

Former Blues player Alan Curbishley doesn’t think Zola will be sacked. Speaking on Channel 5’s The Championship, Curbishley said- ‘the owners won’t change it after making such a big decision to sack Gary Rowett. They won’t change it again just yet’.
