How does Grey compare to our last attacking talent Nathan Redmond.

Just a look at the stats about Redmond`s and Greys season with one leaving for around £3.5 million and the latter seeing bids rejected of that for him in the current window.

Damari Grey is the latest hot prospect from Birmingham academy which has previously brought through talent such as Jordan Mutch, Jack Butland and Nathan Redmond. It is the latter of these that Grey has grew comparisons too.

Redmond`s first full season for Birmingham came a year younger than Grey at 17 with the Blues competing in the Euro cup as well as being back in the Championship following relegation under McLeish. Redmond`s first full season at Birmingham consisted of 37 appearances 7 goals for the club while Grey has clocked up a total of 21 appearances including subs appearances with 4 goals and one assist two his name as of the 27th January . According to Sky sources Grey is being monitored by scouts across the premier league and as we have seen Bournemouth are very keen to acquire the promising talent. Redmond was allowed to leave for around £3.5 Million to play football premier league football at Norwich yet bids in excess of that have been rejected for the new Blues graduate.

As a fan I preferred watching Redmond more than I have Grey this season but I also believe Redmond was playing in a much stronger team however he has developed into a crucial player for Norwich and if you are to compare the two of them by their performances this year Redmond shows what sort of development can be expected of Grey. According to the stats from whoscored.com Redmond has an average rating of 7.46 while Greys performances have been rated at a 6.77, Grey also lacks the providing part of his game only creating the one assist for this team mates and an average of 0.9 key passes per game.

Redmond has scored less with only 2 championship goals compared to Greys 4 but he has created 6 and averages 2.4 key passes a game. They are both similar players with an abundance of pace with a lot more to their game to develop but if he develops like Redmond continues too he will be a good player for Blues if we can keep hold of him.

Be interested to know if you had both again at their first season which talent you would keep and why? My preference is Redmond which is nothing against Grey it`s more of a tactical choice as I prefer a right footed player on the left to cut inside and I feel overall he is a more complete player. However I am hoping Grey stays and makes me eat my words and I would be one very happy Birmingham fan if that`s the case.
