Would this former Fulham winger be a good signing for Blues?

On Thursday I discussed that there would be three more signings happening this summer at Birmingham City but because one of the potential targets has signed for another club, Sone Aluko to Fulham, I thought it would be good to have a look at another player who could really make a name for himself at Blues.

Step up former Fulham, Watford and Burnley man Alexander Kacaniklic. The 24-year-old was one of four players released by the London based Sky Bet Championship sides in June and he still hasn’t found himself a club which to me signals that he might be holding out for a move back to another second tier club, so why not Blues?

The Swedish midfielder can play in either the number 10 role or out on the left which does fill the criteria for what Blues boss Gary Rowett is looking for if I am not mistaken.

During his four year stint with the Cottagers, the wideman has made just over 80 appearances, with 29 of them coming last season. Coincidentally, Kacaniklic also enjoyed his most fruitful spell in front of goal last season scoring four in all competitions, including one against Rowett’s men when we hammered them 5-2 back in November 2015.

Personally, for me, I think if Rowett has been made aware of the availability of this young man then he should stop looking anywhere else and just try and get a deal for him over the line. At 24, the free agent is the perfect sort of player for Blues because he has pace, is used to not having much of the ball because lets face it, Fulham weren’t exactly the best team in the division last season, and he can finish when he needs to.

Last month, Rowett hinted that it would be free agents and cheap transfers for the club during the summer transfer window because although the financial situation at the club has somewhat improved, there is still a long way to go and with Kacaniklic being a free agent, I think he is perfect for us.

To me, there isn’t a better free agent out there at the moment that can do a job in the Championship like Kacaniklic can and I just think that if he was offered the chance to sign for the club, he would probably jump at it because who wouldn’t want to be a part of a club that is slowly but surely working its way back up to the Premier League!

Blues fans, do you think Alexander Kacaniklic should be pursued by Gary Rowett? Let us know your thoughts in the comment section down below!
