Earlier on Friday, reports emerged that Championship rivals Rotherham United looked set to beat Birmingham City to the signature of Walsall striker Tom Bradshaw. However, there could still be a glimmer of hope left for Gary Rowett in his pursuit of Walsall’s star man.

This evening (8th), there are rumours that the Millers have turned their attentions to Millwall striker Lee Gregory and they have had an initial bid of £1.2 million rejected by the League One club.

Although Rotherham have their sights set on bringing in Gregory, it doesn’t mean that they aren’t still focusing on bringing Bradshaw in and with the striker who has scored 40 goals in the last two seasons being available for between £750,000 and £1 million, it is hard to imagine that they wouldn’t put a bid in for his services.

However, because United have bid for another striker, Blues boss Rowett may now see it as a chance to dive in at the deep end and make a last ditch bid for the Welshman, although there are other attacking options that the former Burton Albion boss is looking to exploit.

One of those linked with the club is former Nottingham Forest and Swansea City loanee Nelson Oliveira. The Birmingham Mail are reporting today that the club are interested in bringing the Benfica striker in on loan, although there may actually be the option to sign him on a permanent deal, but only if the price is right.

Birmingham City have had to be careful with how they spend their money in previous transfer windows and the same goes for this one so I believe that Rowett is waiting for just the right striker to come a long at the minute and out of the two, I believe he would prefer to move for Oliveira because he has previous experience at Championship level whereas Bradshaw doesn’t.

Despite there being other names in Rowett’s list, it wouldn’t surprise me if these two were top of it and unfortunately, unless he moves quickly, he may well be disappointed once again because he hasn’t moved quickly enough in the transfer window.

Blues fans, out of the two main strikers that we have been linked with, Oliveira and Bradshaw, which one would you prefer to see join the club? Let us know in the comment section down below!
