It certainly is a change of tone from when he first joined the club.
Perhaps it just goes to show how low the levels of production have been from him, that he’s managed to earn such a negative reputation from some of the fans in such a short space of time.
According to Spanish outlet La Voz De Almeria, second division side UD Almeria are interested in bringing in 21-year-old Blues midfielder Fran Villalba. Villalba hasn’t exactly set the world alight during his time in B9, scoring just the one goal and not even contributing with an assist.
Which is why it’s probably no surprise to hear that Birmingham City fans aren’t exactly too disappointed to be hearing these rumours, as many fans took to social media to slam his contribution, or lack thereof this season. Although he did still have a few people on his side, but not as many as he did when he first joined.
Not bothered about Villalba going. #bcfc

Shame it didn’t work out as he did look quite good at times. Hopefully with him going we can bring in someone but I can’t see it at the moment.

hes too lightweight for this league… crowley only gets away with it as he puts way more effort and desire into the game

Villabla needs a season to settle .. I have this feeling the club would be wrong to sell him

Yet another player whose total lack of fight completely lets down his obvious talent. The only thing he’s remotely interested in is his girlfriend

Has Fran Villalba been a flop at St Andrew's?
Yes
No
Whilst it’s unclear what fee if any Birmingham will receive in the deal, it should at least give them a little bit of wiggle room in the transfer market, and hopefully they can use that to bring someone in who might be more effective.
