Maikel Kieftenbeld scored a spectacular half-volley from outside the box in the 1-1 draw against Brighton at the weekend.

The Dutchman rarely scores, but they are usually belters when he does hit them. This was an excellent strike into the top-right hand corner:

Fans on Twitter lavished praise on the midfielder:

Verdict:

With just five goals in 124 games for us, perhaps our no.6 should try a few more from long range next season! It’s a great strike, but hopefully, we don’t have to rely too much on Maikel for goals.

It’s been frustrating that we haven’t been able to bring in more firepower after a poor showing in front of goal last campaign. However, after a full pre-season under Garry Monk, I am confident we will be a threat going forward regardless.

I don’t expect us to be piling in the goals with the lack of a prolific number nine, but we have to improve on the 38 we scored last season.

  • I just have to say that I wouldn’t blame Monk if he told our owners where to stick it, he must have been given assurances when taking the job, that if he managed to keep us in the Championship there would be funds to use to improve the balance of the squad. Only now on the official website have they owned up to the rumours of FP sanctions, Gary could get a post anywhere, he is the best UK manager around. It’s just typical of this Managements disregard for the way BCFC supporters are true to their word and expect them to do the same.
