Aston Villa midfielder Gary Gardner is a loan target for Birmingham City. The 23 year-old Brummie is struggling to play his way into manager Remi Garde’s first team plans and is looking for a move to benefit his career.
Previously on loan at Nottingham Forest, Gardner is considering an offer to follow in the footsteps of his brother Craig by joining Blues.
The two players come from a family with divided loyalties with Craig supporting Blues and Gary opting for Villa.
Blues boss Gary Rowett is keen to bolster his ranks for a play-off push in the second half of the season and option in the central midfield area are lacking.
Rowett is also looking to bring in a striker and a full-back.
