The time to leave has been and gone

It is fair to say that the Gianfranco Zola era at Birmingham City hasn’t really been a 0-60mph process like Gary Rowett’s was when he first took over at the club, but there is now a case to be made for the Italian.

The former Chelsea legend may not be everyone’s cup of tea or glass of red wine however you want to look at it but if there is one thing he needs right now it is the backing of everyone at the club.

From the moment he walked through the door just hours after Rowett was sacked, the club officials have tried their very best to keep everything happy clappy and everyone should appreciate what they are trying to do because it is fair to say that there have been plenty of times where their enthusiasm has been needed.

Blues definitely been on a terrible run of form and even though last weeks performance against top of the table Newcastle United was a sign of improvement, there are still may doubters of what Zola is still doing at the club.

Well, in my eyes, the time for Zola to walk away has been and gone. It is likely that he will be here until the end of the season and beyond that and although I may get called all the names under the sun for asking people to back him, the support of the fans is crucial as Blues head into what could be a crucial last six weeks of the Championship season.

Granted, when Zola took over in December we were all looking at how the likes of Brighton and Hove Ablion and Sheffield Wednesday were getting on compared to how the likes of Bristol City and Burton Albion are now doing but the fact of the matter is is that that is what we are having to do now.

Football has many joys and sorrows, we all know that for goodness sake! But the one thing I know for sure is that at the end of the day, us fans get the club through what can be very difficult times.

Blues have some crucial games coming up, especially at home, and if we want to get out of this relegation scrap that Zola and his staff have got us into then we all need to stick together and try and pull them through it.

I understand that paying £25 or £30 for a ticket to watch us play at St.Andrews is flipping ridiculous but at the end of the day, the club are never going to see sense apart from the upcoming game against Burton.

Blues fans are some of the best in England and with the right sort of guidance, we all know that we can pull the club through this.

If we keep right on to the end of the road, we know we will be okay at the end of the day! I don’t really want to have to go through the same ordeal as I did when Paul Caddis scored that late equaliser at Bolton Wanderers a few seasons back so the time for us to get behind Zola and Blues is now!
