The January Pinch of Salt

The opening of the transfer window comes hand in hand with silly season. Tabloids, blogs and social media accounts will be packed to the brim with speculation. And that is exactly what it is… speculation.

Hundreds of Twitter accounts claim to be ‘in the know’ when in reality, what they know you could write on the back of a postage stamp.

My colleague at Vital Blues, Tom, has been sifting through pages and pages of rumours to try and find any with substance. It is like finding a needle in a haystack. Blues boss Gary Rowett is playing his cards very close to his chest.

If i read a ‘story’ that says ‘according to the Daily Mail’ or ‘according to The Sun’, I instantly stop reading.

Blues have been liked with several players this month but the only ones, as I understand it, with any hint of truth is James Vaughan (signing on loan tomorrow) and Will Buckley (who I believe is close to a temporary deal).

No Libor Kozak, despite Rowett enquiring. No Zach Clough, apparently that was a non-starter. And no Robert Tesche…

Please take everything with a pinch of salt until you see the player in question holding the scarf aloft.
