The super seven of January! Option No.6

The penultimate player of this series was quite a tough one to pick because with the arrival of James Vaughan it meant that I wasn’t going to include him when I had initially thought about it.

Choosing a player that is within our price range and a player who is willing to perhaps wait his turn was quite tricky.

However, I believe I have found the perfect player for Birmingham City and that player is Abdenasser El Khayati of Burton Albion.

Bit of a mouthful that one isn’t it Blues fans but the 26 year old forward is having a fantastic season at high flying Albion and Gary Rowett might be able to work his magic by persuading his old club to let us have him off them.

This is a player that I have watched over the past 12 months in league one and two respectively and I think he could make a real difference to the squad that we have at the moment.

So far this season El Khayati has found the back of the net eight times for the Brewers in 24 appearances and personally I think if Blues made a move for him then he might be tempted to dip his feet into championship waters.

I am by no means saying that this move would happen but if Blues offered the right sort of package for the Dutch born striker then something might happen.

El Khayati moved to Burton last January on a free transfer so any money that Blues offer to the Brewers would be pure profit for them and it could also help them boost their promotion bid as they could bring in some extra players.

For example, Blues could offer Burton the chance to have first refusal on Mark Duffy in the summer as part of a deal that would bring El Khayati to St.Andrews and they could even offer somebody like Wes Thomas on loan as part of the deal.

I would like to see Blues make a move for Burton’s top goal scorer in all competitions but like I have said before, El Khayati is just a player I would like to see and a move would be highly unlikely.

Blues fans, would you like to see us make a move for Abdenasser El Khayati? Have you seen him play this season? If yes, what have you made of him? Let us know in the comment section down below!
