Blues U18s gave away a 2 goal lead as they sank to a disappointing loss at the hands of Crewe Alexandra at the weekend.

Sam Deadfield scored twice for Blues, one coming from a free kick and one with a low shot into the goal.

Crewe hit back though with two goals within minutes of each other. Blues could not match their opponents any longer.

The winning goal came very late on for Crewe.

Steve Spooner thought that up until half time his team had control. He was disappointed to see the lads lose their concentration; particularly the goal that came from kick off.

Official site:

“At half-time I stressed the need to concentrate because I knew that Crewe were going to come straight at us. But we didn`t and we made a mess of the kick off and they scored and then they scored again within a few minutes.

“As much as we put in a good attacking display in the first-half, in the second-half we were poor defensively. We were sloppy, didn`t pick up their players and there was distance between our players. We didn`t pay enough attention to what was happening off the ball and with our positioning and Crewe scored a winner about three minutes from the end.
