Birmingham ended up sharing the points with Doncaster in a game that left the Blues rather frustrated.

This game is between two sides that are near each other at the wrong end of the league. It goes without saying that these games are the ones that count.

Due to recent results, Blues had reason to feel confident. In addition to that, the panic has lifted around St Andrews, for now.

Lee Novak’s 29th minute goal put Birmingham well on their way to continuing the promising form of recent few weeks. But it wasn’t to be as they failed to find the net again.

Birmingham hounded their opponents right up until the last whistle but Doncaster held out to the dismay of the home crowd.

Lingard and Novak had to settle for wide roles in this game as McLean got the nod to lead the attack with Zigic.

Plenty of attacking options for Birmingham in this game. That makes it all the more disappointing that we failed to create enough chances to win the game.

Sometimes playing so many goal hungry players works against you. That may be something Lee Clark wants to look at, the top teams have that balance of creative supply and goal scoring.

Doncaster troubled early on. A corner caused panic as Blues were caught on their heels. Macheda`s near post attempt whistled past the post.

Slow out of the blocks is always a frustrating thing to see. Here Birmingham got away with it but it was’t a promising sign for the rest of the game.

Novak then hit a 35 yard lob that troubled the opposition keeper. The striker showing that he has more than just stamina in his locker.

Terrific effort from Novak, he is really coming on lately.

Lingard played Mclean in down the left. Mcleans shot was saved by the advancing goal keeper.

Mclean headed over from the following corner.

Mitch Hancox’s run down the left hand side created the goal. A run right down the wing with a far reaching cross found Novak who brought the ball down and fired it into the roof of the net.

Great finish, its what you want to see strikers doing. Aim high into the net, if you can, and you will often find yourself scoring.

Doncaster will need to look at themselves for the goal though, Blues were allowed to bring the ball right from the back all up the pitch.

Macheda tested Blues shortly after. Randolph equal to the powerful shot from outside of the area.

Randolph had a good game, this was another example of how Blues have yet another good goalkeeper.

Robinson took advantage of a Dan Burn slip to play in Macheda to bear down on the Blue’s goal. Randoplh stopped a certain goal, saving the shot with his legs.

Typical of Birmingham at home, that lack of concentration that costs you points.

The 70th minute saw the introduction of crowd favourite Chris Burke for McLean.

Doncaster substitute Cotterill then scored a 30 yard strike. A great shot after he set himself calmly.

I’m sure when you see the goal you will admit it was a good one, these things always tend to happen to a team limping through a game.

Had Blues had that drive we have seen away in recent weeks, that 30 yard strike would have been nothing more than a consolation.

Lingard then tried to kick Blues into life, his run intro the box saw the ball fall to Adeyemi and Turnbull made the save.

The game finished 1-1 in a game where Birmingham should of done much more in front of their home crowd.
