Birmingham City ran out 2-0 winners away at Shrewsbury. First half goals from Wes Thomas and Clayton Donaldson gave the Blues their result.

Assistant manager Kevin Summerfield took this one as Gary Rowett took another split of the squad to Northampton.

Shrewsbury will be disappointed with the first goal they conceded, a short back pass swiftly chased down by Wes Thomas meant 1-0 to Birmingham. The home side were not without their chances as they bid to test Blues from distance.

Birmingham’s second goal was a magnificent team goal. Starting with David Cotterill who sent the ball long, it was picked up by Thomas who generously slide in Donaldson to finish, 2-0.

The second half saw a resurgence from the home side, they found joy drawing out the centre backs and firing crosses in from the right hand side.

Birmingham did enough defensively to keep their clean sheet in what was a good run out for the team.
