Rowett Wants Fear

Birmingham City manager Gary Rowett knows his team have to have a little bit of fear put into them to have their heads right against Cardiff.

Cardiff has not won on the road for a while and Rowett has a plan to use that to Blues advantage not detriment.

“You can make a big issue of the fact that Cardiff have not won away, or you can say that`s going to change sooner rather than later.’

The Blues boss is to make sure that the player’s see it as an opportunity to assert themselves on the game instead of wondering if they will be the team to hand Cardiff their away win.

‘What we have got to do is say ‘listen, we have got a fantastic result at home , going from winning one in 25 to winning one in one` in some way; but that`s not enough for us.

“We`ve got to have that hunger to go out there and do exactly the same again and wouldn`t it be fantastic if we can get two results in a row at home and start to build that bit of momentum and put that little bit of fear behind the players, if you like.’

Birmingham will be confident at home, surprisingly. After winning just one in 25 under previous manager Lee Clark, all of a sudden Cardiff must be preparing for a difficult game today.

Cardiff will have to work very hard if they are going to beat this Blues side. Rowett’s side keep their shape well and aren’t afraid to venture out and play some attacking football.
